Based on the research and interviews I've done, I created a digital-based low prototype and a total of 7 people gave feedback on four ideas on 14th Oct. The user test focused on how to convey information, divided into four ideas, depending on how to deliver information - text, video, and image, which device to use - TV, laptops, iPads, or mobile, or what situations - before, during, and after watching films, and the table categorises ideas is as follows.

Two of my ideas were 1) to show information by mouse hovering in a scene when people hover the part they wanted to know, and 2) to be able to check information on the Netflix app on mobile while watching video content on TV or laptop at the same time. Moxue's idea was 3) to click the button on the timeline to check the information ,4) and use simple animation. I thought that her Q & A idea(3) was very similar to mine(1), so I asked to merge it, but she wanted to listen to people's thoughts individually, so we tested 4 ideas.

To summarise the testing results, the idea of using mobile (2), which is using the other device, was most preferred for two reasons. First of all, the first reason was also related to the change in the watching film behaviours. Compared to watching films at the theatre, online streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime are premised on the idea that users can stop or watch them again at any time, so people use mobile phones if they are no longer interested. Another reason people feel annoyed if they need to do additional actions to accept additional information even if it is small actions. From the term they used ‘additional’, I realised that what I do is additional for them, not essentially understood.

I have got the insights that people consider most important. First, participants put a top priority on not being disturbed while watching the film. And also considered the authority, for instance, people asked me the function of turning on and off the service. As a result, paradoxically, people wanted to get cultural information while watching films through the online survey, but they did not want to need additional action to know. From this, I felt that my team might be going in the wrong direction.
